Dr. Wesley Venus joined the faculty at Gordon State College in Fall 2010. He teaches courses in English composition, Grammar and Composition, Technical Writing, New Media, and modern British literature. His areas of specialization are rhetoric and composition, Eighteenth-century British literature and rhetoric, and humanities computing.

Dr. Venus is a faculty sponsor for Sigma Tau Delta and  chairs and helped found the Gordon State College Composition Consortium.

Before coming to Gordon Dr. Venus graduated from the University of Georgia in 2008. After graduation he was made a Robert E. Park post-doctoral fellow and Assistant Director of First-year Composition. He also taught Advanced Composition, Technical and Professional Communication, surveys of modern British literature, and both courses in the first-year composition sequence.

As a graduate student, first at Mississippi State University (B.A. '99, M.A. '02) and then at the University of Georgia, he was named Outstanding Teaching Assistant ('05), participated in the TA Mentor Program ('05-'06), and was a founding member of Mississippi State's Technical Writing Program ('00). During this time he also taught courses in Advanced Composition, Introduction to English Studies, computer information literacy, first-year composition, and Basic Writing.
