Welcome to Gordon State College Baseball
Information Page for Incoming Players
This web page is very important to each incoming baseball player. The coaching staff will post useful information on this site throughout the year.
Important letter just for you!
Admission to the College: It is very important that each student-athlete apply as soon as they make their commitment to attend Gordon State College and play baseball. Your goal is to be final accepted as soon as possible after your high school graduation. For more information go to https://www.gordonstate.edu/admissions/.
New Student Orientation: This is very important for each player to attend. It is also mandatory.
Attend the earliest date possible, preferably June 14th. This will help you get a better class schedule. You have to sign up for NSO through the admissions department.
Registration for Fall Classes: Make sure you are checking your Gordon State College email for information regarding registration for classes. Optimal class times fill up fast, so don't hesitate!
Each player needs to keep their schedule open from 1:00pm - 5:45pm each day for practice. We will start practice between 1:00pm and 1:30pm each day. We will wrap practice up each day between 5:00pm - 5:30pm. Players can take a night class that starts at 6:00pm if needed to fill their class schedule.
All players need to register for 15 hours or more. Please let Coach McClanahan know when you have your fall class schedule so it can be evaluated.
Payment Deadlines: Make sure you get your classes paid for before the deadline so your schedule doesn't get dropped. It will be hard to get you another good class schedule.
Financial Aid:
Apply as early as possible for any possible Financial Aid - See this link https://www.gordonstate.edu/admissions/financial-aid/index.html
I strongly encourage players to review all the types of aid available https://www.gordonstate.edu/admissions/financial-aid/types-of-aid/index.html. Many players find additional funds to help with the cost of their education, such as; FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), Foundation Scholarship, HERO, and other Federal Grants.
Housing and Move-in Date:
All baseball players will be staying in Commons C, please list it as your building of choice and put "baseball players" for roommates when you apply for housing. Apply for housing as soon as you are Final Accepted. The coaching staff will be contacting you in July about your roommate of choice.
All baseball players will be moving in the dorms on Wednesday, August 14th. Check-in will be in the Student Housing Office of the Gordon Village from 9:00am-11:00am.
Players will need to pay their balance (fees) with the business office before they will be allowed to move-in the dorms. This includes tuition/meals/housing/etc.
You will receive a room assignment from the housing department when you have completed all of your housing requirements. Room Assignments - Feel free to contact your roommates to make plans for move-ins. You will not be place on this list until you have completed your housing requirements.
Summer Training: You need to begin this the first of June. Until then you should let your body rest and recover from the spring season.
