and objectives
In
this course we will examine the topic of emergent information and communica=
tion
technologies from both global and U.S. perspectives, including uses, trends,
and resulting cumulative global influences. We will also study both current and potential effects=
of
these technologies on individuals and their societies. As a class we will
explore current uses of these technologies across a wide array of human
endeavors and in a variety of geographic locales, examining uses of such
technologies in areas of Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. This course
also includes an historical retrospective on the development of the personal
computer focusing on some of the personalities at the forefront of the digi=
tal
revolution.
Class
discussion, through GeorgiaView (D2L), will be supported by media illustrat=
ing
these uses. Students will also select a topic to research and share with the
class through two online presentations and a final 3-5 page paper.

is no textbook for the course. All required reading and viewing resources f=

the class will be available online. Students must have Internet access and
streaming video capabilities.
