Reader Report 5: Adaptation

Susan Orlean’s book, based on the article we read, has certainly received an interesting treatment in the film, Adaptation. In between two and four fully developed paragraphs, discuss the following things: how did director Spike Jonze and writer Charlie Kaufman turn Orlean’s narrative into a film? And how does the film’s meaning—whatever you take it to be—differ from the meaning of Orlean’s journalism?

Due at the beginning of our next class meeting (Tuesday, March 20)

Format:

• Type your name, the number of words in your report, and your class number and time on the top-right-hand side of your first page.
• You must write a minimum of two fully-developed paragraphs and 400 words and a maximum of four fully-developed paragraphs and 1000 words.
• Your essay must be written in Standard American English, making use of proper grammar, diction, and spelling.
• Type your essay with double spacing and 1” margins; use 12 pt. Times font and left justify your body paragraphs.
