For next class, write three paragraphs in which you compare and contrast Link’s short story, “Magic for Beginners,” with her short story, “Catskin.” Comment on the following issues:

1. In the first paragraph, compare and contrast the characters in the stories. How are the characters in “Magic for Beginners” like and unlike the characters in “Catskin”?

2. In the second paragraph, identify what you think the theme/s of the two stories are and compare and contrast them. Is Link making similar or different points in these stories?

3. In the third paragraph, compare and contrast the genres and styles of the two stories. What genre or genres s each story written in and how do their styles resemble each other and differ?
